Roger Leo Weiss, of Bandon, Ore., died Sunday, September 26, 2010, at the hospital in Bandon, where he was undergoing treatment for a stroke and pneumonia. He was 79 years old.

Mr. Weiss was born in Medford, Ore., on November 4, 1930, to Elmer G. and Theresia M. Weiss. He attended St. Mary's during his elementary years and graduated from Medford High School in 1949. He attended Southern Oregon State College in Ashland, Ore., for two years. He married Betty JoAnn Davis of Central Point, Ore., on February 4, 1955, who passed away on January 28, 1979, in Medford, Ore.

Mr. Weiss received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy. He was president of Cal-Ore Ranches, a land developer located in Medford, and was the president of Weiss Development Corp., located in the Bandon, Ore., area since 1978. He was a member of the Bandon Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Weiss leaves behind two sons, Paul Weiss, of Salem, Ore., and Mark Weiss, of Medford, Ore.; two sisters, Rita C. McCulloch and Rubymae Reed, both of Medford; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to his wife, Betty JoAnn, sister, Norma Lees, preceded him in death.

Services for Mr. Weiss will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery on Thursday, September 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Services are being arranged by Conger~Morris of Central Point. A celebration of life will follow the funeral services, where information will be made available.
