Representatives of a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging Oregonians to use solar power are in Central Point tonight for a workshop that offers the basics for homeowners.

The workshop is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Crater Lake Electrical, 4864 Airway Drive, Central Point. It's free and open to the public.

Organizers will talk about how solar works, solar technology and financial incentives and tax credits available for homeowners who install solar systems. Tax credits and incentives can pay for as much as 80 percent of the cost of installing a solar system, according to Solar Oregon.
