Former Oregon resident, Mary Virginia Smith, 83, died September 28, 2010, with her family by her side in Los Alamitos, Calif. She was born October 24, 1926, in Grapeland, Tex., the third child of four, to Terrell and Sudie Smith.

Virginia is survived by her older sister, Avis Ramirez; her younger sister, Nita Smith; her nieces, Gloria Imhoff and Carolina Kolbush; her nephews, Randy Ramirez and John Wickenheiser; her nephew and godson, Scott Smith; She is also survived by Esther Ramirez, Ralph Kolbush, Dorothy Wickenheiser and Laura Smith, as family spouses; multiple extended nieces and nephews; not to mention the many other "adopted" family that were added to her life over the years. For a woman who bore no children of her own, known as Aunt Ginny, Mom, and Grandma Genya, she was incredibly blessed to have such a large and loving family.
