Bambu topped the annual newspaper poll for Best Asian for the first time in its nine-year run at the Larson Creek Shopping Center on North Phoenix Road.

The Pan-Asian establishment is best-loved for its tiger rolls: cream cheese, crab, cilantro and chili sauce wrapped in rice paper and deep-fried. The dish even represents Bambu on the Internet, where it resides at www.tigerroll.com.

"Our menu is really diverse," says executive chef and owner Adam Ward, adding that it features everything from seafood to duck with plenty of vegetarian specialties.

A secluded patio also attracts customers for lunch and dinner, said Ward, who previously headed the kitchen at Ashland's Thai Pepper. And an exemplary sanitation record doesn't hurt, either. Bambu has twice logged a perfect score with county health inspectors over the past year.
