A Rogue Valley native who put his wood shop classes to good use, Ezra Morgan was named this year's Best Contractor.

The 55-year-old custom home builder and remodeling contractor, who's been in the business since 1978, got his start in construction class at Phoenix High School and made a career out of something he enjoyed doing.

Morgan was surprised by the nomination.

"We don't build a lot of homes, but it's an honor that the ones I've done thought enough of me to put my name down," he says.
