Mail Tribune readers chose Bryan Mikota as the Best Photographer in helping them preserve life's memories.

A world traveler who's been back in the Rogue Valley for six years, Mikota is a jack-of-all-trades, having worked as everything from a massage therapist to a military recruiter.

Photography, which he ventured into full time about four years ago, is his best fit yet, he says, as is his home in the Rogue Valley. Mikota covers Northern California and Southern Oregon and travels upon request, doing all aspects of photography, from family portraits to senior pictures to commercial work.

The 46-year-old says he is honored to be recognized by his clients and those who have seen his work.

"The fact they have taken the time to actually comment on my work is fantastic. It's really an honor," he says.

"Photography is really about the connection you make with people and the outcome with perfect photographs. It's something that's hard to describe."
