People with medicine they're not going to use can dispose of it at a drug turn-in event Nov. 13 at Rogue Valley Mall.

The Jackson County Recycling Partnership is organizing the event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the courtyard in front of Macy's department store. The mall is at 1800 N. Riverside Ave., Medford.

There's no fee to drop off drugs, which will be incinerated. All medication should be in its original container, and personal information on prescriptions should be crossed out, organizers say. Thermometers, needles or other medical waste will not be accepted.

Improperly disposed of medication can end up in waterways or drinking water, and drug officials worry that it will be sold on the black market.
