Southern Oregon Brewing Company and the Medford Rogue Rotary Club are holding a second "Pints for Polio" event to help eradicate polio.

From 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, the brewery will donate 50 percent of its beer sale proceeds to fighting polio.

Southern Oregon Brewing's Tap Room is at 1922 United Way, two blocks off Highway 62 (via Whittle Ave.), behind Lava Lanes.

The "Pints for Polio" campaign is part of a Rotary International effort to raise $200 million to match $355 million in challenge grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The resulting $555 million will directly support polio-immunization campaigns in developing countries.

Since starting an immunization campaign against polio in 1988, Rotary International, the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have seen cases drop by 99 percent worldwide. Rotary has donated more than $900 million to the effort.
