A Rogue River man hasn't been seen for more than a month, and the Jackson County Sheriff's Department is looking into why and where he might be.

William Edward Pickett, 58, was last seen by his family at his North River Road home on Sept. 9, Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Andrea Carlson said. It originally was thought that Pickett was headed to either Klamath Falls or California, but family and friends in those areas have not heard from or seen him, Carlson said in a news release Wednesday.

An investigation determined that the Curry County Sheriff's Department had contacted Pickett in Brookings on Sept. 17. No details were immediately available about that development.

Carlson said that Pickett hadn't been reported missing when that Brookings contact was made. His family called local authorities in late September.

Pickett is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and often wears a baseball cap.

Picket is thought to be driving a maroon 1988 Chevrolet pickup with Oregon license plate 246 ANS.

Investigators ask anyone with information about Pickett or his whereabouts to call the Jackson County Sheriff's Tip-Line at 541-774-8333.
