William R. Haynes went on to start his eternal life Wednesday, October 27, 2010, in Eugene, Ore., while sleeping peacefully. He was born in Fronteck, Kans. He married the love of his life, Marguerite Stafford, in 1942. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1947.

Marge and Bill had four children, Ilene Martin, Lloyd Haynes, Larry Haynes and Jim Haynes. They spent most of their married life in Crescent City, Calif., where he worked for the Simpson Timber Company. They moved to the Medford, Ore., area in 1990, to pursue retirement and to have more time to spend with family.

Bill and Marge became avid sports enthusiasts, watching the grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in various activities. He was always on the sidelines of the football field and only missed a handful of practices over the years. Bill and Marge also loved traveling. They more recently moved to Eugene, Ore., as a new generation of family began to grow even larger and wanted to be close to them.

Bill was a very active participant in all family activities, and loved time spent with family and on projects. He was always there to lend a helping hand, offer a genuine smile and heartfelt laugh. He will be dearly missed.

Bill is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marge; four children and their spouses; eight grandchildren and their spouses; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as two sisters and one brother, and their spouses.

A private graveside service will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery, on Monday, November 1, 2010, at 2:00 p.m.
