Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Gober, Jr., 73, of Central Point, Ore., passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2010. He was born September 2, 1937, to Lawrence and Ella (Green) Gober, in Medford, Ore.
After high school, Larry proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge from the Navy, he attended Monterey Peninsula College for one year, and then one term at SOSU. Larry married Patricia Jean Powell on July 29, 1961, in Reno, Nev.
Larry worked for the Ford plant in Milpitis, Calif., for one year and then returned to Medford to help his father with his "Grade A" dairy. He also worked at Oregon Granite for four years. Larry apprenticed for McLaughlin Plumbing, and worked as a commercial plumber for 35 years.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all types of racing. The family enjoyed snowmobiling and golfing together. He kept active with his high school classmates and reunions.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Hanlin, of Medford, Ore; grandchildren, Steven and Kaylee Hanlin, and April Grether; great-grandson, Brady Grether; sisters, Laura Harrison, of Central Point, Ore., Donna Hadley, of Medford, Ore., and Lola Lanham, of Corning, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and son.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at Memory Gardens Chapel.
