SEASIDE, Calif. — Former Ashland golfer Jason Allred had his bid for a PGA Tour card come to a close Saturday at Bayonet Golf Course in the second stage of the qualifying school tournament.

Allred needed to finish among the top 19 qualifying positions to advance to the final qualifying stage but wound up four strokes off that pace with a four-day total of 3-under-par 285. That total left Allred tied for 33rd overall, with Danny Wax of Pacific Palisades, Calif., setting the standard with a 17-under total of 271.

Allred sandwiched a second-round 76 with a pair of 69s but could only break par by one shot during Saturday's final round. The Scottsdale, Ariz., resident made a bogey on the par-3 sixth hole but regrouped for birdies at the par-4 11th and 13th holes to finish the round with a 71.
