As the snow melts, freezing weather will sweep over the Rogue Valley through Thanksgiving with temperatures into the teens in outlying areas.

A half inch of snow fell in Medford Tuesday morning, with more in outlying areas. Parts of Ashland received almost three inches.

"Anything that turns wet today will freeze tonight," said Megan Woodhead, meteorologist for the National Weather Service.

Low temperatures will drop to 19 degrees tonight in Medford, with highs tomorrow hovering just above freezing at 36 degrees.

On Wednesday night, temperatures will drop to 22. By Thanksgiving, Medford will warm up to 40 degrees with an overnight low of 33 as a new weather front rolls into the valley.

Faced with such a forecast, Ashland School District announce that classes at all Ashland public schools will be canceled Wednesday.

The Siskiyou School, a private elementary and middle school in Ashland, also will be closed Wednesday, school officials said.

Temperatures in Ashland are forecasted to fall to 14 degrees early Wednesday, during bus pick-up times, and are expected to remain below 20 degrees throughout the day.
