The December Jackson County Community Service Award will be presented to Michael Grubbs at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, in the Jackson County Courthouse Auditorium, 10 S. Oakdale, Medford.

Grubbs volunteers with his church, a professional organization and Habitat for Humanity. As a trustee for the First United Methodist Church in Ashland, he has donated more than 100 hours rewiring for a new sound system when the church was remodeled, and he continues to take care of the church's electrical maintenance.

As a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, Grubbs has wired 14 houses in roughly five years of service. He and other local electricians wire two to four houses each year.

Grubbs has been an International Association Electrical Inspectors member since 1999, and is secretary of the Oregon chapter. He trains Oregon electricians and provides continuing education for electricians and inspectors in the Rogue Valley. He created a residential electrical inspector program and teaches training classes for local jurisdictions.
