Arlin Jack Casperson, 75, died in his home on Thursday, November 18, 2010, after an eight year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Middletown, Ohio, June 4, 1935, the son of Edsel and Martha (Bloomfield) Casperson. His family moved to El Monte, Calif., in 1946, where he met a number of his life long friends. Jack's life focused on family, friends, education, sports, golf, and his faith. In 1956, he married his college sweetheart, Shirley Willyerd, and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage.

Jack earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Masters of Arts Degree from Chapman University in Orange, Calif., where he later was president of the alumni association, and member of the board of trustees. His career included many years of teaching and administration. He was assistant superintendent of business for Orange County Schools from 1973, until his retirement in 1989.

Jack and Shirley moved to the Rogue Valley in 1994. During his retirement he gardened. golfed, traveled with Shirley, and enjoyed his grandchildren, Andrew, Brian, Zachary, Trevor, Amy, Joshua, Austin, Rachelle, and Jessica.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by their three daughters and their husbands, Daryl and Gary Wentworth, of Stockton, Calif., Dana and John Chadwell, of Gig Harbor, Wash., Dawn and Michael Van Winkle, of Medford, Ore., and his sister, Sami Lindstrom, of Paso Robles, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Marcia Napoli.

A celebration of life will take place Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 1:00 p.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2000 Oakwood Dr., Medford, OR 97504. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church Youth Ministry, Chapman University Alumni
