In championship games, the Mazama boys defeated Dayton, 45-33, and the Regis girls knocked off Mazama, 64-57.

The Pirates led 31-29 at halftime, then used a 10-0 run midway through the third quarter to create some separation. On defense, Phoenix found second-half success by returning to its man-to-man defense, holding the Challengers to 18 points.

"The difference between the first and second halves was patience, playing hard, crashing the boards with our guards and taking high-percentage shots," Phoenix head coach Glenn Johannes said.

Tyler Dungannon recorded 11 points for the Pirates (4-2).

Alex Hobson had nine points and seven rebounds, Dalton Richardson six points and six rebounds and Justin Bohn four points and four steals for Phoenix, which outrebounded Cascade Christian 35-27.

Addison Smith had 12 points and six rebounds and Eric Morse and Mason Smith both added 11 for the Challengers (2-4). Morse grabbed 11 rebounds.

"We knew they would come out and fight," Johannes said of the Challengers. "We were trying some new things and they hung with us in the first half."

Young and Morse were all-tournament selections.

Jeremiah Rusk added eight points and 11 rebounds for the Knights (6-3), while Kevin Brazille, a 5-foot-6 sophomore guard, had six points, four steals and three assists and made the all-tournament team.

In its third game of the season, North Valley lost at home to Sutherlin, 66-59.

ILLINOIS VALLEY 34, PACIFIC 33, OT — At Phoenix, Illinois Valley earned the program's third victory in 31/2 seasons, and second in a row, when Laurissa Tausaga hit a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Trailing 33-31 and with just seconds to spare in overtime, the Cougars (2-9) regained possession, crossed half court and called a timeout. The ball was then inbounded to Samanatha Frederick, who flipped it to Tausaga on the left sideline. The senior point guard buried the trey — her second of the OT period — to earn the win.

Kristen Vidales added 10 for the Cougars.
