The Rogue Valley Harmonizers' 90-minute stage show, "Alex In Wonderland," will air at 3 p.m. Christmas Day and New Year's Day on RVTV Channel 15. The show is a family-friendly, lighthearted musical romp produced locally.

Its two dozen songs include "I'll Be Seeing You," "Hit The Road Jack" and "Bye Bye, Love," and the special will feature 40 singers, including four quartets. Along with the nostalgic tunes from the '20s and '30s, the Harmonizers will be presenting original comedy skits with themes borrowed from classic fairy tales, such as one called "Frog Kissing."

"The main character, Alex, turns out to have a pretty big ego," says chorus manager Bob Hall. "Needless to say, he doesn't get the girl. The queen and her court classify him as a frog, not a prince."

"The show was professionally recorded by Bob Jackson Miner of Ashland," Hall says. "He was our technical director.

The Rogue Valley Harmonizers have been performing a cappella music for more than 25 years. Its quartets include Delusions of Grandeur, Lytning and Tone Deaf. A women's barbershop quartet called Unpredictable also appears in the special.

The men's singing group is a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, an international organization with more than 800 chapters world-wide.

Membership is open to all male singers. Auditions and rehearsals are held from 7 to 10 most Thursday evenings at the First Presbyterian Church, Eighth and Holly streets, Medford.

Enter the church from the back parking lot. If the door is locked, press the button five times to the tune of My Wild Irish Rose. Someone will come down and open the door for you.

The society and its chapters are dedicated to teaching men how to sing four-part harmony in the barbershop style.

Training is offered in ear training, sight singing and American Diction for Singers. For more information, Call 541-857-6557, or visit the website at www.rvharmonizers.org.
