Chamber Music Concerts will present the Janaki String Trio at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, in the Music Recital Hall on the Southern Oregon University campus, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. The program will feature works by Bach, Beethoven and Dohnanyi. Janaki features violinist Serena McKinney, violist Katie Kadarauch and cellist Arnold Choi. The trio was founded in 2005 at Colburn School of Music in Los Angeles and won the Coleman Chamber Music Competition the same year. In 2006, Janaki won the Concert Artists Guild International Competition and made its debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The trio takes its name from the Sanscrit word (ZHAN-uh-kee), which symbolizes self-realization.
