Gladys P. Gerleve, 87, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at St. Vincent Medical Center, in Portland, Ore. She was born in Ashland, Ore., to John and Mary Kannasto. Gladys graduated from Ashland High School, and loved growing up in Ashland. Lithia Park was a special place she loved spending time at.
Gladys worked at the Ashland Theatre when she was young and was also a long distance telephone operator in Medford, Ore. She married Oscar Gerleve, and they were married for 58 years. They resided in Klamath Falls, Ore., where she worked at "Your Store" for 30 years, selling beautiful glassware, crystal and linens. Gladys loved to go camping with her husband, listen to music, and read novels. She loved being with family and watching her great-grandchildren grow up.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; and her daughter, Loretta Jean Bailo. She is survived by her granddaughter, Margaret Thomas, of Hillsboro, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Quintin and Krissy Thomas, of Hillsboro, Ore.; sister, Dolly DeSantis, of San Mateo, Calif.; brothers, Ray Kannasto, of Salem, Ore., Harry and Fred Kannasto, both of Ashland, Ore.
A funeral is planned for Thursday, December 30, 2010, at the Eagle Point National Cemetery, at 10:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements by Valley Memorial Park, Hillsboro, Ore., 503-648-5444.
