To the Grinch who stole my tip jar: Hello, I just wanted the person who stole my tip jar from my Christmas display to know that I hope the small amount of money you took helps you.

To the Grinch who stole my tip jar: Hello, I just wanted the person who stole my tip jar from my Christmas display to know that I hope the small amount of money you took helps you.

I only used the money to help pay for the hot chocolate and candy canes that I leave out for people enjoying my display. I trust you needed it more.

I will continue to leave out treats for people enjoying my show, as to some folks it's become a tradition. You may have taken money but you will not take my Christmas spirit. So to you and all I say Merry Christmas. — Adam Seibert, Medford

Dish TV customers who want to watch ABC TV should realize that Channel 12 and other network broadcasts are freely available in much of the Medford area.

Simply mount a modest antenna on your roof where it has line-of-sight to Mount Baldy and Mount Ashland, run coaxial TV cable to your DVR or HD TV, and you will probably get decent TV reception. It is free!

For more information, the FCC has a website to help folks with antenna selection, etc.: www.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/maps/.

Installation help is available at www.dennysantennaservice.com/TV_antenna_help_center.html (who will also be happy to advise you and sell you an antenna). — Jerry LaFountain, Central Point

These are the unforgettable words President John F. Kennedy was to deliver in a luncheon speech on the day he was assassinated in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963:

"We in this country, in this generation, are — by destiny rather than choice — the watchmen on the walls of world freedom. We ask, therefore, that we may be worthy of our power and responsibility, that we may exercise our strength with wisdom and restraint, and that we may achieve in our time and for all time the ancient vision of 'peace on earth, good will toward men.'

"That must always be our goal, and the righteousness of our cause must always underlie our strength. For as was written long ago, 'except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.' "

This is leadership. Don't you miss it? — Jeff Smith, Medford

I was somewhat sympathetic to the Holly Theatre's cause until I read in the paper about their proposed use of neon. Tacky.

It would create an eyesore, something we definitely do not need in downtown Medford. — Jody Sorensen, Medford
