Mike Feagan scored one goal and had three assists as the Southern Oregon Spartans defeated visiting Eugene 4-1 in NORPAC hockey at The RRRink Saturday.

Feagan assisted on the Spartans' first two goals, then tallied a short-handed goal late in the third period to give Southern Oregon the final margin of victory.

Southern Oregon led 1-0 at the end of the opening stanza on Mike O'Brien's goal with 7:19 gone. Greg Evans and Feagan assisted.

Evans notched what proved to be the winning score at 12:08 of the second period, with Chris Whitten and Feagan getting assists.

After Randy Ludwig cut Eugene's deficit to 2-1 on a goal 33 seconds later, the Spartans answered in short order with a score of their own. Saylor Preston gave Southern Oregon a 3-1 lead 20 seconds after the Eugene goal.

Neither team could convert on power play opportunities. Eugene failed on six attempts, while the Spartans were 0-for-2.

Southern Oregon goalie Mike Peerless stopped 20 of 21 shots.

The Spartans are second in the Pacific Division with a 27-13 record, while third-place Eugene is 18-22.
