Howard Grant Willison III, son of Howard Willison the II and Esther Willison, was born November 5, 1937, in Los Angeles, Calif., and passed away late in the afternoon on February 16, 2011, in Medford, Ore. He served honorably in the U.S. Army as a young man and as an adult made a living building cabinets, selling and installing carpet, and breeding dogs with his wife, Pat.

Howard loved the ocean, being on the road, the outdoors, animals in general (dogs in particular), hunting, fishing, and leaving California. He was the kind of man that was easy to like and hard to know. Speaking from the heart was hard for him but he had a kind and loving nature that was felt rather then heard. He lived through his hands and was able to build or fix whatever needed building or fixing.

Howard is survived by his wife of 27 years; his sister and brother-in-law Ginger and Mel Hoelting; his daughter, Pamela; and his sons, Howard, Tim, Bryan Bailey, Randall Wilkes, and Greg Peyton.

Those who loved him mourn the comfort of his presence but take solace in knowing the freedom and happiness he sought vigorously all his life now surrounds and envelops him. Goodbye father, husband, and brother. We hope the love of those of us who cherished you will cushion and buoy you on your journey.

A memorial will be held for Howard Willison in six to eight weeks in Southern California. Please contact Tim Willison at timwillison@me.com or 530-219-3848 for details. In lieu of flowers please consider giving a donation in Howard's name to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
