Don Vessey was born on Dec. 13, 1925, to parents, Harold and Margaret (Curry) Vessey, in Marion, Ind., and passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011, at home with his family by his side.
He moved to Medford, Ore. from Kansas when he was in the fourth grade. Don served in the Air Force from 1944 to 1946, and retired from the Oregon National Guard 186th Division as a master sargeant in 1959.
Don worked in the banking industry, as a paymaster at Medco, and retired from Dumas Linen Supply. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder and Deacon. Don loved life, his family, golf, fishing, the song "Stardust" and Law and Order. His happiest times were spent watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their activities.
In 1949, he married Beulah, his wife of 61 years, who survives him. He is also survived by daughters, Debbie (Steven) Williams and Vicki (Howard) George; son, David (Linda) Vessey; grandchildren, Tami (Jason) Floyd, Kari Hardin, Robert (Edna Velasquez) Vessey, Tashina Williams and Benjamin Williams; great-grandchildren, Logan Floyd, Kaila and Kambria Lee, Ryder and Jaxson Vessey, and Celynez and Aryana Gomez.
He is also survived by sisters, Virginia Drake and Mary (Bud) Simmonds; sister-in-law, Evelyn Barnum; brother-in-law, Ray (Ronnie) Konopasek; and relatives in Oregon and Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Vessey Jr.; sister, Maxene Bex; and great-granddaughter, Sierra Floyd.
