CENTRAL POINT — Island Juice Café will donate a percentage of sales Tuesday through Friday next week to benefit people lacking medical insurance.

Dining for Healthcare Dollars raises money to benefit uninsured and underinsured families seeking medical care at Community Health Center in Medford, a nonprofit clinic that serves low-income, working adults and children who lack insurance coverage.

Participating customers must present an official coupon advertising the event when ordering their meal. The coupon can be found on the Community Health Center website, www.communityhealthcenter.org, at the Dining for Healthcare Dollars link.

Island Juice Café, 1350 Plaza near Albertsons, will donate 20 percent of coupon-users' meal ticket totals to Community Health Center. The fundraiser starts at 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, and ends at 8 p.m. Friday, March 31.

State Sen. Alan Bates, D-Medford, will host a legislative town hall at 6 tonight in the Adams Meeting Room at the Medford library, 205 South Central Ave.

The event will allow Rogue Valley residents to express their views on issues pending in the Oregon Legislature. Bates will discuss a variety of state issues facing the 76th Legislative Session. He will focus on the budget crisis and other legislative priorities.
