It's a beautiful day for a pageant.

Miss Rogue Valley and Pear Blossom Queen each will be crowned today in two separate pageants.

Miss Rogue Valley scholarship pageant is at 7 p.m. at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. Young women will compete in swimsuit, evening gown and talent segments, vying for scholarships and a chance to compete in the Miss Oregon pageant in Seaside in July.

Admission is $10 and tickets are available at the Craterian box office. Call 541-779-3000.

Eight Jackson County high school senior girls will compete to be queen of the 2011 Pear Blossom Festival in Medford at the 21st annual Senior Royalty Scholarship Pageant, set for 7 p.m. at the North Medford High School auditorium. They will be judged on school leadership skills, academic achievement, community involvement, an interview with the judges, writing and presenting an essay, and answering impromptu questions on stage.

A ballroom dance competition and demonstrations by dancers from the Dance Arts Center will also be presented at the Pear Blossom pageant. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for students. Children under 6 get in free.

Youngsters will compete to be junior royalty in the Pear Blossom at 9 a.m. at North Medford. Two 5-year-olds will be crowned at the morning pageant, which is Medford's oldest, organizers say.
