Problems with a major electrical transmission line knocked four power substations offline at 11:25 a.m., leaving 22,000 customers across Jackson County without power for about 25 minutes, Pacific Power reported.

The outage stretched from Talent to Medford and affected schools, traffic lights, businesses and homes.

Jan Mitchell, a Pacific Power spokeswoman, said the 230 kilovolt line experienced problems. Workers checked it and all the substations to ensure the power grid is safe, then flipped the power back on at 11:52 a.m. She said it was unclear what had caused the outage.

The outage set off security and fire alarms, sending crews scrambling to multiple false alarms.
