The sophomore right fielder's diving catch of a sinking line drive with two outs in the seventh inning and the bases loaded preserved a 7-6 upset of Southern Oregon Hybrid favorite Roseburg.
The road win was the Black Tornado's first in the SOH.
Evans made the play on a hit by the Indians' Micah Audiss. Roseburg had the bases loaded in the seventh with one out and two runs already in when North Medford pitcher A.J. Doolittle earned a key strikeout of Darin Nelson.
Then came Audiss, who was robbed on Evans' alert play.
"Hayden just made a great athletic read in the sun there," said North Medford coach Brett Wolfe. "That thing was hit hard and it was a sinking line drive and he left his feet and made an athletic play out there in right field and saved the ballgame for us."
Evans also plated a pair of runs with sacrifice flies.
