Medford/Ashland boys tennis tournament this weekend

Some of the state's top boys tennis talent will be on display this weekend at the Medford/Ashland Tournament at North Medford High.

The event is the largest high school tourney in Oregon with 12 Class 6A and 5A teams from around the state competing.

The participating schools are: Ashland, Barlow, Churchill, Corvallis, Marshfield, Newberg, North Medford, Roseburg, South Eugene, South Salem, Sprague and Summit.

Action begins on Friday and concludes on Saturday. Players may compete in as many as four matches over the weekend.

Sprague's Brent Wheeler, who advanced to the 6A state semifinals last year, is one of 20 state qualifiers participating.
