For their "Be the Change" project a group of Crater Academy of Health and Public Service seniors chose to hold a garage sale in the Central Point Elementary parking lot at the end of April. The sale raised more than $2,200 to support Crater's sparrow, Faith. One anonymous gentleman generously donated $1,000. The remaining $1,200-plus came from the sale of items donated.

The seniors' next project is to work with their sparrow's sister to create a video for Ellen Degeneres in hopes of getting her Foundation's support for Faith's medical expenses, as she looks toward experimental treatments as a last resort.

"Be The Change" is a culminating senior project designed to allow students to use the skills they've learned to create and complete a project that makes a positive impact on our community and world.

CAHPS seniors are working on a variety of projects to improve the Crater campus, to promote early childhood literacy and to benefit Habitat For Humanity, Hearts With a Mission, Central Point Police Department Explorer Post 2600, and Sparrow Clubs and Crater's sparrow, Faith.
