In honor of Memorial Day, students from Scenic Middle School will gather at Eagle Point National Cemetery and place small U.S. flags on approximately 16,000 gravesites, from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.

In honor of Memorial Day, students from Scenic Middle School will gather at Eagle Point National Cemetery and place small U.S. flags on approximately 16,000 gravesites, from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Monday, May 30, patriotic music, flag displays, a rifle salute and a fly-over will all be part of the 2011 Memorial Day Program at Eagle Point National Cemetery, at 11 a.m.

The Memorial Day program includes music by Southern Oregon Scottish Bagpipe Band, a joint color guard to include all branches of the military, advancement of colors by veteran service organizations, rifle salute, echo taps, Civil War cannon re-enactment and vocal selections. Speakers will include Rep. Dennis Richardson; Jim Willis, director of the Oregon Department of Veterans Administration; US Marine Corps Retired Col. Dave Dotterer; Oregon Army National Guard Sgt. First Class Mark Dalton. A fly-over will include Oregon Air National Guard F-15 jets and WWII bi-planes and helicopters.
