EUGENE — The Oregon baseball team defeated rival Oregon State 4-1 on Saturday at PK Park to clinch the Ducks first series victory over the Beavers since UO's baseball program returned in 2009.

Oregon (32-26-1, 10-16) has now won three consecutive games, and for the first time this year, clinched a Pac-10 series victory in just two days of action. The series win is Oregon's sixth of the season and third in Pac-10 play.

Oregon State (38-16, 17-9) has now lost four straight and back-to-back Pac-10 series.

The win also claims the season series for Oregon against the Beavers with three wins in four meetings. The series finale is set for 1 p.m. today at PK Park.

For the second day in a row, freshman Aaron Jones was responsible for driving in the game-winning run.

The Ducks trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the third, and with the bases loaded and two outs against him, Jones drove a bases-clearing double against an 0-2 count down the left-field line.

After Oregon State starter Josh Osich had retired six straight, KC Serna led off the bottom of the third with a single, and J.J. Altobelli's one-out bunt single put runners on the corners after an OSU error. Osich walked Danny Pulfer to load the bases, and retired Andrew Mendenhall before Jones' at-bat pushed Oregon ahead 3-1.

Jones continues to lead the club with 36 RBIs and 11 multiple-RBI games, while also plating the game-winning run a team-leading five times this season.

Oregon starter Christian Jones earned the win, improving to 7-2 on the season and picking up his second win in a Pac-10 start as well as his second win against the Beavers this season. Jones held the Beavers to one run on five hits and six walks while fanning five in 51/3 innings of action.

In his last six starts, Jones is 5-0 on the mound and the Ducks are 9-3 on the season when Jones is on the hill.

Junior right-hander Scott McGough, who already posted a win earlier in the week in relief at Portland, finished the game for Jones. McGough recorded his fifth save of the season, shutting out Oregon State and holding the Beavers without a hit while issuing just one walk over the final 32/3 innings. For McGough, it was his ninth career save.

Osich (6-4) lasted five innings, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five.

As Scott Schultz came on the hill in relief of Osich in the bottom of the sixth, Aaron Jones led things off with a single to right and moved to second on a Ryon Healy sacrifice. Stefan Sabol then drove in Oregon's fourth run with a single to left as the speedy Jones was able to beat the throw to the plate.

The Ducks got out of a bases-loaded situation in the top of the fourth as Christian Jones loaded the bags on a single and back-to-back two-out walks. He got himself out of the jam by striking out Garrett Nash to end the top of the fourth.

Oregon State took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on Brian Stamps' two-out triple down the left-field line that scored Ryan Barnes all the way from first.

Aaron Jones led Oregon with a 2-for-4 performance, while Pulfer's single in the fifth extended his hitting streak to 13 games. The streak is a career-high for the second baseman, and also sets a new modern era record for the Ducks since 2009.
