In an international singles final, former University of Oregon player Alexander Cornelissen recovered from a dismal opening-set loss to defeat Michel Hu Kwo 0-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2 in the 15th annual Rogue Valley Swim & Tennis Club Open & Senior Championships on Sunday.

In an international singles final, former University of Oregon player Alexander Cornelissen recovered from a dismal opening-set loss to defeat Michel Hu Kwo 0-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2 in the 15th annual Rogue Valley Swim & Tennis Club Open & Senior Championships on Sunday.

Cornelissen, a native of Belgium, took home the grand prize of $1,500 after engineering the comeback against Hu Kwo, a sophomore-to-be at the University of Portland who is from Beijing.

In the doubles final, former North Medford High standout Jonathan Endrikat teamed up with Salem's Curt Wheeler to beat the top-seeded duo of George Jecminek (British Columbia) and Andy Gerst (Torrance, Calif.), 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
