Chester K. Bowser, 87, left his home to join the love of his life, Nelda, in heaven, after a brief battle with cancer, on June 19, 2011. He was born March 7, 1924, in Kittanning, Pa., to the late Kenneth and Martha (Sloan) Bowser. He moved to Central Point, Ore., in 1968.
Chet had a long and successful teaching and coaching career in the Central Point School District, ultimately receiving "Oregon Teacher of the Year" in 1979, and induction into the Crater Hall of Fame in 2010, as well as the Seaside Hall of Fame in 2006.
Already in heaven waiting for him, aside from his parents, are his stepmother, Mary; his wife of 49 years, Nelda; brother, Daniel; sister, Rochelle; and infant son, Barry; and daughters, Susan Hager and Patricia Dulany.
Left to celebrate his life are his sister, Emogene Byers; sons, Donald and Daniel Bowser; daughters, Barbara Barrett, Mary Valdes, and Amy Hannah; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Rogue Valley Fellowship, 2399 S. Pacific Hwy, Medford, Ore. A memorial service is to be announced at a later date.
