The body of Robert Allen Grevious Jr., 26, was found Wednesday about a mile downstream from Chinook Park, where he was thought to have drowned on June 15.

According to a news release from the Josephine County Sheriff's office, the body was discovered at 11:25 a.m. by a private citizen.

Grevious disappeared under water after attempting to swim across on June 15. At that time, rescue divers were not able to find him.

Sheriff's Office marine deputies and Rural/Metro Fire Department responded. The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety assisted the Sheriff's Office with recovery, which was complete by 12:48 p.m.

Grevious lived on Rogue River Highway across from the R-Haus Restaurant. He was to have been married this summer. Grevious moved from Crescent City, Calif., about a year ago.

Grevious was going to play basketball at Morrison Park on the day of the accident, but ended up jogging over to Chinook Park with a couple of friends, both 16-year-olds.

The three jumped in the water at the large sandy beach upstream from the boat ramp and handicapped fishing platform.

The teens made it across. Grevious, about 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, began to struggle and disappeared from view.
