The Renegades, a minor league adult football team, host the High Desert Lightning of Bend at Spiegelberg Stadium at 6 p.m. Saturday. The game has been tabbed as The Rice Bowl; spectators can bring four bags of rice or any other non-perishable food items for $3 off a single admission. All food donations will benefit the ACCESS Food Share. A portion of the contest's proceeds will benefit the ACCESS Inc. housing department.

Tickets are $8 for singles, or $5 with a non-perishable donation. Families of five get in for $15, seniors $5 and children 12 and under are free.

Thornton, who grew up in Compton, Calif., and Fresno, Calif., has played with the Renegades since 2008.

The Renegades compete in the Pacific Football League. The squad is one of nine Oregon teams in the South division. The top four clubs in the division will make the postseason, with the top North and South teams vying for the PFL crown and advancement to nationals.
