Seth Brown's towering home run in the first inning helped the Medford Mustangs American Legion AAA team take control early on Wednesday.

The Mustangs posted seven runs over the first two innings en route to a 10-6 nonconference victory over the Corvallis Marketmen at Harry & David Field.

After Colin Sowers began the inning by drawing a walk and Jessie Hornbrook put runners on second and third with a double, Brown turned on the first pitch he saw and lined a three-run homer over the right field wall to put the Mustangs up 3-1.

Cody James highlighted the Mustangs' four-run second inning with a two-run single.

Hornbrook delivered the final blow for the Mustangs (9-5) with a two-run double in the sixth.

Hornbrook finished 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Sowers went 3-for-4 and scored three times and Brown ended up driving in four runs on a 2-for-5 performance.

Mustangs' starter Lucas Stone turned in his best performance of the season. He allowed four runs — only two earned — and did not walk a batter while striking out three.
