Anita Wheeler, 87, passed away June 20, 2011, at her home in the Table Rock area, surrounded by family. She was born on June 6, 1924, in Medford, Ore., the only child of John and Hassel Dickey, and lived in the Rogue Valley her entire life.

Anita attended school at Table Rock through the eighth grade, and graduated from Central Point High School as Salutatorian of her class in 1942. She was editor of the school yearbook.

Anita met Donald Wheeler while working at the Table Rock Store, and they were married August 4, 1946, in Medford. She moved to his family farm on Wheeler Road, where she lived until her death.

Anita loved the Lord and attended Table Rock Bible Church since she was four years old. She was secretary of the church for many years, and taught children's Sunday School.

Her many hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, trips to the Oregon coast, and visiting with family and friends. She enjoyed the wildflowers that grew on her property, and was interested in the many birds and the wildlife on her farm. For many years Anita and two of her friends went for daily walks on Wheeler Road.

She is greatly missed by her family, daughters, Barbara DelGrande (Gary) and Judy Sease (Norm); grandchildren, Tanya Henderson (Jim), Matt Jones (Cindy), Marc Jones (Emily), Courtney Sease, and Morgan Terwilliger (Chip).

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Emily and Cody Henderson, Joshua, Haylie, and Rylie Jones, Jaxson and Hayden Jones, and Austin, McKenna, Emma, and Averie Sease; and her cousins, Jean Taber, Rita Abbott and Jon Hardin; and ex son-in-law, Willie Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A memorial service will be held at Table Rock Bible Church on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Dave Price will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made to Table Rock Bible Church c/o 10526 Table Rock Road, Central Point, OR 97502.

The family would like to thank Shannon Rhoades for the wonderful care she gave Mom in her last months.
