J.D. passed away April 24, 2011. He was born October 23, 1927, in Mississippi. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1949, and moved to Ashland, Ore., in 1954.
For about 15 years he owned a fleet of logging trucks, working in Southern Oregon and Northern California. About 1970, J.D. moved to Sacramento, Calif., where he worked at Capitol Truck Parts, and then was a partner in Chuck's Used Trucks, in West Sacramento.
He is survived by his wife, Laverne; nine children by marriage; 13 grandchildren; and three great-granchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Evelyn Fitzgerald, of Sacramento, Calif., and brother, Rich Barnett (Lily), of Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Duwain and Ralph. He is much loved and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Funeral services were held April 30, 2011, in Sacramento.
