GRANTS PASS — The Southern Oregon RiverDawgs amateur baseball team used 14 hits and a five-run third inning to top the Sonoma Seals 9-5 in nonleague play at Agnew-Lytle Field on Monday.

Trailing 3-1, the RiverDawgs recorded five hits and took advantage of a key Sonoma error in the third.

Nick Hall's two-run triple in the bottom of seventh gave Southern Oregon a cushion.

Jace Sloan finished 3-for-3, while Chris Bradshaw, Ryan Hayden and Marcelino Morales all recorded two hits and Drew Fosnes added an RBI double for Southern Oregon (9-13).

The RiverDawgs, who have won two straight, next host the Nor Cal Pirates in a three-day, three-game series that begins at 7 p.m. Friday at Harry & David Field.

NORTH MEDFORD 12-7, COOS BAY 5-5 — At North Bend, Charlie Walker and Hayden Evans both hit home runs to help North Medford pick up a pair of nonleague victories at Clyde Allen Field and extend their squad's winning streak to nine games.

In the first game, Walker went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a stolen base. In the sixth inning, he belted an opposite-field solo shot.

Taylor Raff was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and Bryan Carbonell contributed a three-run double in the seventh inning of Game 1.

Evans belted a two-run homer to right field in the first inning and Micah Brown finished 2-for-3 with a run in a rain-shortened Game 2 for the Mavericks (18-5).

AGE 9-10 DISTRICT 8 TOURNAMENT — Robby Carle was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Jacob Melton pitched 31/3 innings of one-hit ball as Medford National advanced to the championship round with a 12-2, four-inning win over Grants Pass American on Sunday at the Medford National Little League fields.

Melton struck out five to help Medford National remain undefeated in the tourney with its second straight blowout win. It has won its two games by a combined score of 27-6.

Melton and Daniel Shenk each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Medford National, which can wrap up the tourney title with a win Wednesday.
