The House Co-Speakers today appointed Rep. Sal Esquivel, R-Medford, to the House Interim Committee on Rules.

The committee will consider a number of issues, ranging from election law to government reform, while the Legislature is not in session, a news release from Esquivel's office said.

Esquivel previously served on the House Rules Committee in 2007. Today, the committee plays a pivotal role in a House of Representatives that is split between 30 Republicans and 30 Democrats.

Esquivel said in a prepared statement that he was pleased to serve on the committee and hoped to help to make government more transparent and accountable.
