Lloyd Owen Gallop, 80, of Winston, Ore., passed away August 16, 2011. He was born November 13, 1930, to James and Viola Gallop, in Billings, Mont. Lloyd spent his childhood years in Norfolk, Neb., and then moved to Ore., in 1946.
On December 1, 1951, Lloyd married Nancy Nichols, in Reno, Nev.
Lloyd had a long career working fo Copco/PPL. He retired in 1987, then returned working as a consultant until March, 2011. He was a lifetime member of the Elks and Moose Lodge. He volunteered many years at the VA Domiciliary in Roseburg, Ore. His hobbies included, hunting, fishing, golf, and traveling with his RV Group. He spent many winters as a snow bird in Ariz. He was a proud member of the IBEW union for which he achieved an award as a 50 year member in 1997. Lloyd will always be remembered as the softy at the front door who contributed to all children's fundraisers.
Lloyd is survived by, Riley and Jodi Gallop; two brothers, John, and Dale Gallop; five grandchildren, Cameron (Meghan) Gallop, Kendall Gallop, Jared (Mary) Gallop, Jacob (Jessica) Gallop, and Joslynn Gallop.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy on April 3, 2010; his son, A. Jeffrey Gallop in 1977; three brothers and two sisters.
Lloyd will be laid to rest at the family cemetery next to his wife, Nancy and son, Jeff, located in Brockway, Ore.
The family would like to thank Brad and Sherrie Estes, Dr. Gabriel BouMerhi and nurse Toni, Dr. David Owens and Dr. Tom Bui, for their compassionate care during Lloyd's illness. A special thanks goes out to Joyce Swanson, Lloyd's companion this past year.
A celebration of life will be held at the Elks Lodge, in Roseburg, Ore., Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
