Jackson Soil and Water Conservation District, in cooperation with Bear Creek Watershed Council, is sponsoring a workshop on the permitting process for construction projects near bodies of water.

The workshop, from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, is designed for landowners, developers and contractors. Cost is $10. Refreshments and course materials will be provided.

The workshop will be held at the USDA Service Center, 573 Parsons Drive, Medford. Call Markie Germer at 541-776-4270 for information and reservations.

The Jackson County Republican Women will host the annual Reagan BBQ Fundraiser at Eagle Point Golf Club at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28.

Funds raised will go to education programs, including providing copies of the U.S. Constitution to students in Jackson County and U.S. flags for classrooms.

The event will include a catered barbecue, a live auction and music by Joe Diamond and Lyle Ames. Among the officials expected to attend are Oregon House Speaker Bruce Hanna, state Republican Chairman Allen Alley, state Rep. Sal Esquivel, state Sen. Doug Whitsett and Jackson County Commissioner C.W. Smith.
