Updated 9:30 a.m. A fatal traffic crash has been reported near milepost 5 on Highway 238 south of Grants Pass, Oregon State Police said.

The Grants Pass Daily Courier reported that one man died this morning on Williams Highway when a Ford F-550 work truck swerved to miss a deer and struck a power pole at about 6 a.m.

Police haven't released the man's identity pending notification of next of kin, Oregon State Police Trooper Jeff Proulx told the Courier.

The deceased was a man in his 50s or 60s and was a passenger, Proulx said. The driver and another passenger had minor injuries and were not taken to a hospital.

The truck was headed south in the 6000 block near Canaan Street when the incident occurred.

Traffic was blocked in one lane for more than an hour.
