Cheryl Thompson passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011. She was born in Medford, Ore., on August 9, 1971.
After a courageous fight against cancer, her final days were spent at home surrounded by family. Cheryl's life was too short, but those who were touched by her humanity and love will never forget the joy she brought to us. Although Cheryl lost her battle, she gave us such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. She always wanted children and cherished her own, Kyra, age 5, and Thomas age 9.
She enjoyed music, gardening, candles and butterflies. Cheryl loved art, camping, fishing, the coast and spending time with friends and family.
Cheryl worked at Rogue Valley Manor and Rogue Valley Medical Center for several years prior to moving to Palmer, Alaska. We are left with our cherished memories and the legacy that Cheryl left: keep family close, cherish every moment, value your friendships, and don't wait to seek medical attention, ever.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Tom; son, Thomas Allen; daughter, Kyra Lavon; parents, Richard and Ramona Lehnert, of Medford, Ore.; brother, Michael R. Lehnert; sister, Deborah Lehnert; five nieces; one great nephew; and three great-nieces. Cheryl was preceded in death by her grandfather, Harold L. Grubbs; grandfather, C.G. Lehnert; and grandmother, Christine M. Lehnert.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hehn, Dr. Hansel and the care provided by Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at Lozier Lane Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Franell officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow. Cheryl will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to benefit her children at any local Wells Fargo Bank location.
