Diana L. Daniel was surrounded by loved ones when she passed away on Thursday, October 13 2011, at her home in Eagle Point, Ore. Diana was born on November 27, 1946, in Oakland, Calif.
Inspired by a childhood teacher, she dedicated her life to the development of young children. Receiving her teaching certificate at St. Mary's College in California. In 1973, she moved to Jacksonville, Ore., and began a long standing career in the Jackson County Head Start program, retiring in 2009. Diana was changing the world one child at a time, and the impact is too big to measure. The ripple effect will be felt for generations to come.
Diana was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Mattos; mother, Roberta Jean Curry; and father, Jack Daniel. Survivors include her brothers, John, James, and William Daniel; sisters, Mary Peterson, and Patricia Seymour; son, Kenneth Wayne Mattos, Jr.; daughter, Sandra Jean McLaughlin; grandson, Gregory; great-grandson, Ezekiel; as well as her longtime companion, Robert Kelton; his children, Brenda, and Christina; and granddaughters, Courtney, Alyssa and Dayauna; whom she loved dearly.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Community Hall, Ashland, Ore., on November 6, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Children's Advocacy Center.
