YELLOWSTONE, Wyo. — Jarrett Pfeiffer's goal with just under seven minutes gone in the third period proved to be the game winner as the Southern Oregon Spartans defeated the Yellowstone Quake 4-2 in the rubber match of the three-game series in NORPAC hockey Saturday.

YELLOWSTONE, Wyo. — Jarrett Pfeiffer's goal with just under seven minutes gone in the third period proved to be the game winner as the Southern Oregon Spartans defeated the Yellowstone Quake 4-2 in the rubber match of the three-game series in NORPAC hockey Saturday.

Pfeiffer scored 47 seconds after Yellowstone's Zachary Tuchklaper tied the game 2-all with his second goal of the game with 6:07 off the clock in the final stanza.

Nick Stirmel finished off the scoring on a Pfeiffer assist at the 18:12 mark for league-leading Southern Oregon (9-3).

The Spartans led 1-0 after the opening period on Joey White's goal with 21/2 minutes left in the period.

In the second period, Tuchklaper knotted the score 1-all before Brandon Bronze put the Spartans ahead in the seesaw battle.

Stephen Salek registered 34 saves in net for the Spartans.
