Buttercloud Bakery & Café will open this week at 310 Genessee St., the former location of Great Harvest Bread Company.

Owners Ellen and Gibson Holub moved to Medford from Seattle in June, with the intent of opening an artisan bakery.

Ellen Holub is a former baker, pastry chef and fifth-grade teacher, while Gibson Holub is a graphic designer. Buttercloud will offer baked goods, biscuit sandwiches and eventually local wine and craft beer.

Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development Inc. assisted in the start-up.

Its formal opening is 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4. Buttercloud Bakery & Café' will operate 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
