Betty Frances Johnson, 79, of Medford, Ore., passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011, at her home. Betty was born to Bryan and Fannie (McCaslin) Shipp on December 9, 1931, in Hailey, Idaho. On December 24, 1947, Betty married Duane Johnson.

Betty and Duane came to Oregon from Idaho in 1965 where they ran Beef Boy Restaurant. Betty was an Assistant Cook in the Phoenix-Talent School Cafeterias. Betty and Duane together owned and operated Motor City Auto Sales in Medford from 1978-1998. She volunteered for S.M.A.R.T. reading program in local elementary schools. She loved shopping, especially for shoes and enjoyed painting.

Her greatest joy was being a loving Nana and Grammy to eight Grandchildren and loving GiGi to five Great Grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children, Pam (Steve) Schwietert, of Grants Pass, Ore., Greg (Cheryl) Johnson, of Medford, Ore., and Gary Johnson, of Klamath Falls, Ore. She was preceded by her husband Duane in 2000.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at the Eagle Point National Cemetery, in Eagle Point, Ore. Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford, Ore., are in care of arrangements.
