Mr. Wray Stanbery, 74, of Johnson City, Tenn., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at his residence.
He was a native of Washington County the son of the late Charles and Eula Robison Stanbery.
Mr. Stanbery was a veteran and served in the Korean Conflict from 1955 to 1958. After 42 years, he retired as a plumber and member of Local 29 in Portland, Ore. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. in Medford, Ore.
Mr. Stanbery was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.
Wray is survived by his wife, Doris Burnett Stanbery, of the home; two daughters, Shari Sabin and Tina (Mike) Derryberry, both of Medford, Ore.; two sons, Ben (Trish) Burnett, Senoia, Georgia and Russell (Whitnany) Stewart, of Medford, Ore.; three sisters, Barbara Green, of Sacramento, Calif., Dorothy (Tex) Murray and Shirley (Freddie) Bennett, both of Johnson City, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a very special and close friend, Paul Saylor; and the friends of Greenwood Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a twin at birth; a son, Bobby Dean Burnett, in 1998; and a son-in-law, Darrol Sabin in June 2011.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Greenwood Baptist Church, with Pastor Harold McNabb officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
