George E. MacKenzie passed away in the early morning of November 25, 2011. He and his beloved wife, Betty, had made Medford, Ore., their home since 1988.
"Mac" was very proud to be a World War II veteran. He fought in the Philippnes and was there when the Japanese surrendered to the United States. He won the bronze star and purple heart durning his service to our country and proudly spoke of his days in the army.
He and Betty were married 67 years. The love in their eyes for each other never faded and it was obvious to all who were around them.
Mac was a successful businessman in insurance all of his life. He graduated from U.C.L.A. and was a loyal Bruins fan forever. He was the captain of the soccer team for three years; it was U.C.L.A. all the way!!!
He is survived by two daughters, Linda (Clyde) Davis, of Medford, Ore., and Carol Hornbeck, of Mt. Vernon, Wash.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2010.
Mac was a man of honesty, integrity and love. Those who knew him loved him; he lived an honorable life, was a true gentleman and will be missed.
A mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 517 W. 10th, Medford, 8:30a.m., Thrusday, December 1, 2011. A small reception will follow in the parish hall.
